As newly elected President of the Park View East Homeowners' Association we are concerned with the proposed addition of new 70' high and much brighter lights being suggested by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department for the baseball fields in Ann Morrison Park. While we enjoy the baseball games and love to see people having fun and getting exercise there is also the issue of vista and view for those of us who are here 365 days of the year 24/7 not just during the summer for a couple of hours. It seems to us that the compromise and agreement reached in the past with the neighbors of the park was a good one and should be honored by the City.
An article in the paper today shows Nancy Merrill, Director of the Idaho Parks and Recreation Department, riding a bike on the newest addition of bike path dedicated yesterday. It is particularly noteworthy because Nancy is recovering from foot surgery. Great job, Nancy! And Great Sport!
A special thank you to George's Cycles for donating for elected officials' use 10 bikes and helmets to ride the new addition of 1.64 miles of bike path. It was so generous of them to be so gracious to help us celebrate an event that we have been looking forward to for years. THANK YOU GEORGE'S CYCLES.
Yesterday we dedicated the bike path that so many of us at FACTS (Foundation for Ada/Canyon Trail Systems) have been working on for years. Along with a wonderful article in the Idaho Statesman by Cynthia Sewell the actual dedication was covered by Channels 7 and 6 airing on the noon news and the three evening news reports as well as the morning news. The actual amount of path completed at this point in time in compacted dirt and gravel is 1.64 miles long. Within three weeks Boise City is adding their section behind the Boise Sewer and Water Treatment Plant connecting to the path dedicated yesterday. THEN we will be to the eastern edge of LaGuna Point a subdivision that has a worn path from use by the residents walking along the river. This means that by the end of July folks will be able to take the bike path from Lucky Peak to Eagle Road. There is hope that by the end of the summer we will have paved the portion of the path dedicated yesterday. The volunteers worked hard getting this piece done for the community. I am so blessed to be associated with so many wonderful friends on a project of this size and impact. Take a look and enjoy. It is beautiful.

Boss Lift

What a wonderful day!
Boss Lift.
I met some wonderful folks yesterday. They are the defenders of our freedom. God Bless them and everything they do.
I spent the day at Gowen Field learning about everything our National Guard and Reserve do for our country. They are remarkable men and women. I am so proud of them. And I will sleep better every night from here on knowing there are folks like them protecting us.
Thank you Idaho National Guard.

Thank you TREASURE VALLEY CYCLING ALLIANCE!
FACTS (Foundation for Ada/Canyon Trail Systems) just received $7000 from the proceeds of Bike Week.
We are so grateful!!!!!! Thank you to each and everyone of you who helped raise this money. We will put it toward the paving of the path we just built on the South Side of the South Channel of the Boise River. And in case folks didn't know Factsidaho.org went live on Sat. Please check us out. I'm so delighted to be working with so many people who want good things for this valley and this community.
BSU is so important to this community.....in more ways than one. They are helping the Auditorium District with an update of a study done in 2009 on the impact of the Convention Center on our community. While I was being updated today I made a reference to the bike path I have been working on for 30 years. I praised the work of two students from BSU studying under Robert Minich. These students recently provided FACTS with an app for the bike path. Pat Shannon who was reporting on the Auditorium District update knew of the app created for FACTS. So right there in one brief moment I was the grateful recipient of wonderful news for two projects being done by BSU which affected me....and for that matter the whole community. Thank you BSU!!!
